Mile Oak Farm covers 1100 acres on and around the south downs at Portslade, near Brighton. It has been farmed by the Cross family for three generations, and is now in the charge of David Cross and his wife Julia.

The farm was originally dairy and arable based, but in 2003 the dairy herd was sold off when milk production became less profitable and legislation increased. The farm shop was then opened, originally just selling horse feed for the 30 or so horse liveries at the farm. Over the years we have expanded the shop, introducing new lines and improving facilities to what we are today. We sell a wide range of food and produce, and offer famliy attractions. In 2010 we will be opening our MILE OAK TEA SHOP.

A beef herd now runs the grazing ground that the cows used to, which produce a calf a year. The calf stays on the mum for a year or until they have weaned themselves off.

In keeping with the countryside theme, an outside agency occasionally uses some of the land for clay shooting, quad biking and archery.
